Family recipes guide
How to make a family recipe archive
A recipe becomes part of family history when it includes more than ingredients: who made it, when you ate it, and what nobody wrote down.
Capture the useful details
- The original recipe card or source.
- Ingredients, substitutions, and quantities.
- What “until it looks right” actually means.
- Who taught the recipe and when your family makes it.
- A photo of the finished dish or the people cooking.
Write the story behind one recipe
Start with the sentence: “We make this when…”
Keep recipes close to the people who know them
Family Only keeps recipes alongside photos, events, comments, and the relatives who can answer the next question.
